Many organizations manage critical documents through shared folders or unstructured systems, leading to duplicated files, version conflicts, and difficulty locating information. BokenDocsis a proof-of-concept web platform designed to centralize document management, track change history, and improve collaboration across technical teams.
Project overview
Challenge
Technical and administrative teams often work with a large number of documents such as reports, project documentation, and contracts. These files are frequently stored in shared folders without clear control over: document versions change history access permissions document ownership This leads to version conflicts, information loss, and difficulties during internal reviews or audits. This issue is especially common in sectors such as legal firms, consulting companies, and engineering organizations, where document management is critical. The challenge was to design a lightweight system capable of organizing documents while maintaining traceability and access control.
Solution
A prototype web platform was developed to centralize document management through a clean browser-based interface. Key features include: document upload and storage, automatic version control, full change history tracking, user and role-based permissions, searchable document metadata and document preview and download functionality. The system architecture was designed using a modular approach, separating the business logic, data access API, and the web interface.
Results
The project helped validate a more structured document management approach and explore a scalable architecture for internal document systems. The prototype demonstrates how a lightweight platform can significantly improve document organization and reduce version conflicts.
