Surcando la Memoria
Digital repository platform for the historical memory of El Jable (Lanzarote)
Digital repository platform designed to preserve, organize, and publish documentary and audiovisual material related to the historical memory of El Jable in Lanzarote. Integrates structured content management with external video hosting and direct document storage to support long-term research access.
Project overview
Challenge
The main challenge was to consolidate decades of documentary, photographic, and audiovisual material into a structured and accessible digital platform. The system needed to serve researchers and cultural institutions while ensuring long-term organization, scalability, and ease of content publication. Managing diverse media types and maintaining clear categorization and metadata structure were essential components of the project.
Solution
A dedicated web platform with a custom content management system was developed to organize documents, interviews, images, and multimedia content. Audiovisual materials are integrated via YouTube embedding for reliable streaming, while documents and images are stored and structured directly within the platform. The system supports thematic categorization, metadata management, and structured navigation to facilitate research and content discovery.
Results
The result is a sustainable digital archive that centralizes dispersed historical materials into a coherent and searchable repository. The platform improves accessibility for researchers and the public while providing administrators with a reliable system for continuous content expansion and structured documentation.
